Prairie Organic Spirits: Farm Crafted Vodka

Prairie Organic Spirits

There can be more to vodka than just your choice for a low calorie cocktail. A great example is Prairie Organic Spirits, a farm-to-bottle distillery located in Princeton, Minnesota. They specialize in spirits that are made from single sourced “vintage” corn grown on a co-op farm in central Minnesota. Unlike their competitors, Prairie Vodka is made with 100% corn (rather than potato or grain-based), giving it a smoother, rich mouthfeel with the slightest hint of sweetness.

This family-owned distillery supports organic farmers, protects local wildlife, and progressively improves overall sustainability. Their farmers avoid using harmful pesticides; instead letting nature do the work. Pheasants and bats swarm the the fields, eating small insects, and wild foxes keep away larger predators. Instead of using herbicides, farm workers create small prairie fires to control unwanted weeds. They believe that nature leads and we follow, understanding that climate, moisture levels, and soil all impact the the growth cycle of the corn, which in turn affects the end product.

Using this 100% organic corn, all spirits are produced in small batches and tasted frequently.

Prairie Distillery is proud of having taken a spirit that is historically known for being a mass-produced money-maker and created a low intervention, farm-crafted vodka. We like it best mixed with Fever Tree club soda or used in a dirty martini.
